Over the course of two weeks in February 2022 I travelled around Turkey with a friend of mine from university during a semester break. We were lucky enough to be able to rent a car and explore both rural and urban areas of Western and Central Anatolia as well as Istanbul. In traveling through some of the most densely and sparsely populated areas of Turkey, we were able to witness and contextualise the historical meeting of eastern and western empires and how they interacted and often quarrelled with each other. As the cultural landscape of Turkey has forever been a dynamic environment, even if it was for better or for worse, we were able to experience a tiny slice of this ever changing region. Everything pictured was photographed on a Nikon F2 with either Fomapan 100 or 400 black and white film.
